Mercedes-Benz organised this week a pre-launch closed media event to present its soon-to-be-unveiled E-Klasse Cabrio. Autocar was among the guests that had the honour of meeting the new open-top model for the first time.
The journalists were also invited in a testing facility, where a wind tunnel was ready for the action of demonstrating how effective Merc's brand new technical solutions, the AIRCAP and the AIRSCARF, are. The AIRCAP is a clever wind deflector that can be automatically raised by the touch of a button;it is above the windscreen and it really helps deflect the annoying air turbulences by projecting them 20 centimeters above the virtual cabin of the car, when the soft-top is off. AIRCAP works fine from 160 km/h up to 260 km/h. On the other hand, the AIRSCARF is a well-known head & neck heating system placed in the car's headrests, that made its premiere on the SL- and SLK-Klasse models.
More information, including proper high-resolution photos and a detailed press release, will be made available in the following days.
